Job Summary:
Operations Accountant has full responsibility for costing spreadsheets, reports, and closing procedures for a manufacturing division of Johanna Beverage Companies. Responsibilities include Juice purchases hedge matching, intercompany reconciliation, manage fixed assets in Sage, and local and municipal licenses and taxes. They have a high level of understanding of the manufacturing process and costing components of finished products. The role partners with Supply Chain and JBC Manufacturing to report KPIs on yield, inventory and costs in weekly and monthly closing schedules.

 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, analyze and reconcile inventory records including purchases, usage, and variances for finished goods and raw materials.
  • Preparation of weekly and monthly operations reports for management - gain/loss schedule, weeks of inventory, manufacturing costs, productivity, and analysis of major COGS components.
  • Preparation of monthly R&M and Supplies spending analysis, work with plant to identify key variances.
  • Preparation of monthly closing journal entries.
  • Ensure accurate intercompany distribution of charges and maintain intercompany account reconciliation
  • Analysis of production overhead expense identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Analysis of monthly divisional contribution margin variance drivers.
  • Work with plant to identify any variances to logged receipts and end of month
  • Maintain product costing for all finished products.
  • Maintain a rapport with various levels of management in manufacturing and supply chain. Stay current with changes in plant facilities and operations. Attend manufacturing meetings.
  • Provide timely and accurate product costing options for new and reformulated products
  • Maintain schedule of taxes and licenses and ensure timely and accurate completion/payment.
  • Record in service capital in database for tax and book depreciation.
  • Maintain, analyze and reconcile all bank accounts.
  • Preparation of monthly closing journal entries, managing monthly recurring journal entries and adjusting accruals and amortization as necessary.
  • Monthly reconciliation of various G/L balance sheet accounts, including payroll, benefits, insurance, loans, accruals, and banking accounts except executive payroll.

Qualifications

  • BS in Accounting or Finance required, four year college degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum seven years of experience in accounting, manufacturing or audit preferred
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
  • Commitment to continuous process improvement.
  • Willingness and desire to deep dive into the detail
