Job Summary:

Accountant has full responsibility for accounting spreadsheets, reports, and closing procedures for a manufacturing division of Johanna Foods, Inc. He/she has a high level of understanding of the manufacturing process and can identify the components of finished products. Manufacturing reports must conform to the weekly and monthly closing schedules.

Responsibilities

Functions of Operations Accounting:

  • Maintain and reconcile inventory records including purchases, usage, and variances.
  • Preparation of weekly and monthly operations reports for management - reports include gain/loss schedule, weeks of inventory, manufacturing costs, productivity, and analysis of major COGS components.
  • Preparation of monthly closing journal entries.
  • Analysis of production overhead expense.
  • Analysis of monthly divisional contribution margin.
  • Monthly reconciliation of various G/L balance sheet accounts.
  • Maintain an Excel-based costing system for all finished products.
  • Maintain a rapport with various levels of management in manufacturing and supply chain. Stay current with changes in plant facilities and operations. Attend manufacturing meetings.
  • Assist in year-end physical inventory.

 

Functions of Transportation Analyst:

  • Analyze trends in Transportation costs and advise management on high cost lanes with solutions to mitigate.
  • Owns analysis and verification/quantification of customer surcharges and nuisance fees.
  • Update Freight carrier grid.
  • Act as point to ensure, along with transportation and AP, that customers are billed for any incremental costs they create.

Qualifications

  • Four year college degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least one year of experience in accounting, manufacturing field preferred
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
  • Commitment to continuous process improvement.
