Job Summary:
The Logistics Trainee will provide support to the Dispatch department in areas of paperwork, communication, coordination, and assignment of Johanna product deliveries as well as preparing and maintaining reports and DOT requirements.

Responsibilities

The Logistics Trainee will rotate throughout various roles within the distribution and planning/scheduling departments.

 

At a minimum, will provide 2 hours of support each day to Logistics. Remainder of the day will be dedicated to Transportation.

 

Planning/Scheduling:

  • Verify yard check weekly, ensure any trailer not moved from week to week is communicated to the appropriate parties
  • Drop trailer status for vendors (full vs. empty) – communicate to Materials Planners as needed
  • Manage Dunnage communication to vendors
    • Coordinate trailer movement back to Pantera for pick up
  • Coordinate combination of partial trailers, share new location inventory as needed
  • Scheduling production/material resources

 

Transportation:

  • Receive paperwork from the drivers upon return from their runs. Review all paperwork: BOLs for O/S/D, signatures, arrival and departure times, backhaul paperwork for correct trailer numbers, etc. Record any issues in AS400 Order Shipping Comments screen for both JFI drivers and outside carriers.
  • Maintain driver files: prepare monthly reports regarding necessary inspections, physicals, etc.; communicate to drivers when needed
  • Monitor and maintain common carrier information; ensure all information is up to date and COIs are current
  • Dispatch: schedule appointments, truck routing, load tendering, Elog monitoring, etc.
  • Supports Safe Quality Foods (SQF) requirements.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

    • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word
