Job Summary:

Supervises and coordinates activities of Lab Techs engaged in inspecting and testing ingredients, packaging supplies and finished goods, as they proceed through the manufacturing process.  Communicates company quality assurance standards and regulatory requirements.  Reviews quality and SQF instructions, product specifications and production schedules to determine methods of conducting inspections and tests, SQF compliance standards and work assignments.

Responsibilities

QA dept. responsibilities:

 

  • Supervise QA Lab Technician testing and inspection activities and maintain records.
  • Review QA inspection and monitoring records, verifying completion and accuracy.
  • Communicate with other departments to solve quality issues.
  • Assist in investigating customer/consumer complaints.
  • Assist in developing QA procedures and forms along with annual review of both.
  • Participate / support any Internal and External audits such as SQF, Organic, JPA, QAS and AIB.
  • Assist in QA training programs and ensure training effectiveness in application of job skills.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with JFI SQF quality policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Analyze and resolve, or assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Participates in other plant teams and programs, such as HAACP, SQF, Food defense and Continuous Improvement.
  • Assist in scheduling of staff for coverage across all three shifts and weekends.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable quality system standards, food safety and defense programs.
  • Serve as alternate Quality Systems Coordinator or Quality Manager when absent from the position.
  • Coordinate outside lab swabbing and micro sampling and validation activities.
  • Upkeep calibration, pest control, air sampling, swabbing, water testing and QC document binders.

Sanitation responsibilities:

 

  • Prepare the juice sanitation plan for Mid-week and End-of-week sanitation, coordinate cleaning  activities and verify completion of assignments the same or following day.
  • Document sanitation activity progress in the Master Sanitation schedule, change as needed. 
  • Download and verify evergreen filler CIP recordings and verify Fogg filler CIP charts.
  • Verify raw and pasteurized silo CIP records along with visual verification of equipment cleaning.
  • Create any new cleaning procedures, update as need and verify accuracy of present activities.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Quality Manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Management, or other closely related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of Quality Assurance experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work varied shifts, including weekends.
