Job Summary:

Directly supervise production and sanitation personnel ensuring:

  • The timely completion of the daily production schedule and associated paperwork.
  • The timely completion of equipment sanitation procedures and environmental cleaning, as well as maintaining regulatory charts and record keeping.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor plant and equipment conditions to ensure there is no adverse affect on product quality.  Resolve / communicate any areas of concern associated with sanitation completeness.
  • Responsible for the completion of the daily production schedule, once the production supervisor leaves the plant.
  • Perform required cleaning of production equipment according to technical specification and regulatory requirements.
  • Review regulatory charting daily to ensure effectiveness of sanitation procedures.
  • Maintain total awareness of Company policies, procedures and regulations, ensuring compliance when performing designated assignments and instill compliance in assigned personnel.
  • Establish standards, work methods, and schedules for both routine and special cleaning duties.
  • Provide work assignments to assigned personnel and perform regular inspections to ensure that assigned areas are properly sanitized.
  • Formulate plans for improving the sanitation program, communicating with the QA and Production Manager for implementation review.
  • Organize job tasks to achieve the most efficient use of available resources.
  • Provide continuous on-the-job development, training and motivation of personnel to acquire maximum quality, productivity, cooperation and morale.
  • Maintain close supervision of both personnel and operations through physical presence on the production floor.
  • Ensure that all shift personnel; equipment, materials and areas of operation conform to all pertinent health and safety regulations.
  • Identify and resolve problems on a timely basis.
  • Report and communicate promptly both unresolved and anticipated problems.
  • Provide organizational and technical expertise to assist in the resolution of operational problems in order to maintain required productivity, quality and safety standards.
  • Participate in all scheduled meetings as directed by the Production Manager.
  • Handle administrative functions such as disciplinary documentation, scheduling vacations, assuring proper attendance, accident reports, Time and Attendance reporting and addressing the first level of grievance procedures,
  • Requisition supplies, equipment and materials necessary for performing proper sanitation procedures.
  • Recommend the hiring and dismissal of non-exempt employees to the Production Manager. Authorize overtime as necessary, if senior management is unavailable.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable quality system standards and the unit’s food safety and security programs in support of essential manufacturing strategies and practices.
  • Serves as Alternate to Quality Assurance Manager on the Johanna Foods Inc. Safe Quality Foods Team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in production management or related field and 3-5 years previous supervisory experience in similar environment.  Knowledge and experience may be substituted for degree.
  • Experience in dairy manufactory is prefered
  • Proficient PC skills with word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Detail oriented and organized; work on multiple projects concurrently, set priorities and follows through.
  • Able to work varied shifts, including weekends.
