    Job Summary:

     

    The incumbent in this position directs the development of programs, policies and procedures for the division’s Food Safety and Security objectives in support of essential business and manufacturing strategies and practices.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide business perspective and leadership to Juice, Smoothie and Aseptic Manufacturing and senior staff through analysis of current trends in food research and development, food safety, regulatory issues and other related areas.
    • Support process of new product development, providing input to support development.
    • Recommend and advise on performance development goals and evaluations of QA Department staff.
    • Enforce and maintain HACCP Program.
    • Responsible for quality systems, food safety and security programs, product labeling, kosher management, organic certifications, and regulatory affairs.
    • Implement and oversee plant product quality improvement initiatives and quality measurement programs, e.g. consumer complaint program.
    • Serve as Crisis Management Team Lead, acting as the Johanna Foods, Inc. liaison with customers and regulatory agencies.
    • Oversee customer programs involving specifications, web-based information systems, labeling, product cuttings, product complaints, and quality audits.
    • Directed development of co-packer qualification and compliance programs including food safety audits, consumer complaints, specifications and labeling.
    • Lead plants in preparation of third party audits.
    • Advise plants in problem solving QA issues.
    • Prepare the plants and participate in Regulatory compliance activities.
    • Act as customer QA technical liaison for common customers (i.e.: AHOLD).
    • Provide technical support to plants, marketing, sales, and other functions as needed.
    • Functioning as the Division’s SQF Practitioner has primary responsibility for leading development, implementation, oversight and continuous improvement of the SQF program.
    • Oversees the Food Safety Plan and disseminates regulatory requirements.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable quality system standards and the unit’s food safety and security programs in support of essential manufacturing strategies and practices.
    • Serves as Alternate to VP of Beverage Manufacturing role to ensure effective coverage to the Safe Quality Food responsibilities pertaining to that position.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum requirement B.S degree in Food Technology, Food Service, or equivalent curriculum required, as well as related experience.   Advanced degree preferred.
    • Ideal candidate will have combined experience in the areas of QA/QC with a supplier/processor in the food industry.  
    • Ten+ years of plant experience in QA management or production supervision.     
    • Ten+ years experience responsible for Food Safety program execution with industry or regulatory
