Job Summary

 

Responsible for collecting, inspecting and testing equipment, as well as raw and finished products in a food manufacturing plant.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains samples from in process and packaging lines for inspection and testing.
  • Performs chemical and bacterial tests on raw in process and packaged products.
  • Performs tests to keep lab in compliance with FDA/NJ State lab requirement.
  • Conducts calibrations of instruments and devices within the quality assurance department as well as specific production instruments. Keeps records of these calibrations.
  • Maintains conformance in SQF standards by completing tasks and maintaining that the work is done in a sanitary manner.
  • Completes beverage analytical testing, micro plating, residual peroxide and ATP testing.
  • Provides the same laboratory expertise and performance necessary to analyze finished products within their specifications for microbiological, chemical, physical and organoleptic requirements.
  • Maintains raw material/ingredient receiving, sampling and inspection procedures.
  • Monitors beverage products to assure quality is being controlled.
  • Performs various chemical, physical and sensory tests on juices and concentrates to determine compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Maintains and orders the equipment, chemicals, reagents and supplies that are required to perform production and laboratory Quality Control functions.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable quality system standards and the unit’s food safety and security programs in support of essential manufacturing strategies and practices.
  • Serves as Alternate to other QC Technicians to ensure effective coverage of the Safe Quality Food responsibilities pertaining to that position.
  • Special assignments upon request of the Quality Control Manager.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School diploma, some College preferred
  • Prior Quality Control experience required
  • Requires the ability to read, write and perform basic arithmetic computations
  • Ability to work independently; normally receives no instruction on routine work, general instruction on new assignments    
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area that promotes safety and efficiency
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends
