Garage Diesel Mechanics

Job Summary: 

Part of a team of Garage Mechanics that perform preventative maintenance, repairs and inspections on a fleet of trailers, yard tractors, and over-the-road tractors.   Responsible for maintaining repair records and parts inventory in Garage, and for documenting parts required.

• Compensation up to $30.00/hour, based on skills, experience, qualifications and testing

• Ability to complete preventative maintenance and repairs on: Brakes (ABS), Wheels, Tires, Starters, Suspensions, Drive Belts, Hoses, Ignition Systems, Computer Codes, Turbos, Noises and Emissions.
• Ability to perform routine maintenance, such as changing oil, checking batteries, lubricating equipment, fluid changes.
• Ability to drive a yard jockey tractor to move trailers between yard and garage.
• Ability to diagnose and repair ThermoKing refrigeration units on trailers.
• Ability to diagnose and repair electrical issues on transport equipment.
• Knowledge and skillset required to complete DOT inspections on trailers.

Schedule:

Mon - Fri 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM

• Technical training and certifications in areas of mechanical, refrigeration, electrical and welding
• Welding skills documented via certification or evidence of work experience
• Basic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronics
• In-depth knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanisms
• Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic software
• Sufficient base tools to perform duties
• Knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment
• Comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools
• Track record of workplace safety
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required to interact with other Garage Mechanics and management
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Keen attention to detail
• Work experience satisfactory to JFI hiring manager(s)
